Light shows the way

Though increasing amounts solar power panels can be seen on building tops and different sunlit landscapes, even vociferous to handle immigration reform of green energy may shy away from solar technology installations owing to the high costs called for.

But these deterrents may be a thing generally the past with the advent of a more matter-of-fact approach of straightaway using the provided solar energy and supplying the surplus electricity directly to the external power grid owning fretting about storage (thereby greatly cutting the huge cost otherwise got on batteries), which is further assited by State and central tax assistance.

The Kerala State Electricity Corporate Commission regulated the Grid Digital Distributed Solar Energy Systems in 2014, which directs the electricity dispersion licensees (The Kerala State Utility Board (KSEB) is the largest among the list of electricity distribution licensees in Kerala. Other licensees include the Thrissur Organization, Cochin Port Trust, Thiruvananthapuram Technopark, and Kannan Devan Plantations Limited. of Munnar) to provide connectivity to assist you to its low- or high-tension dispersion feeders with the solar energy system placed around by the consumers, subject to stipulated things.

All electricity consumers in the County are eligible for this scheme. The consumer has to install a Grid Interactive Sunlight Plant on their premises that should reach the goal of power amounting between 1 KILOWATT and 1 MW. Applications generally received at the respective section medical practices of the KSEB which examines yet clears them, subject to technical feasibility, in a time-bound manner.

The element of surprise of the scheme is that the ordinary shopper, who has always been at the fag result of the power distribution network, is actually elevated and bestowed with the expected power generation partner status. Another bi-directional electrical meter is a crucial device in the system that display units the energy flow between the solar panel with grid. The regulation has specifications for energy banking, which make ones KSEB pay the consumers for its excesses in their power export-import stableness accumulated over a period of time. The consumer certainly has to pay the KSEB inside the event the power imports are more than export products. The consumer can also get back the surplus electricity supplied to the grid at any pre-specified location in the State, if the same isn't actually redeemed.

But well before the involved energy systems took shape as a considerate regulation, an institution not past an acceptable distance from Thiruvananthapuram city has been restfully implementing the system that won acclaims even from the United Nations. M. A playful. Faizal Khan, Pro-Chancellor of Noorul Islam University and Managing Chief director of NIMS Hospital, Neyyattinkara, was already striving to provide uninterrupted and excellence power supply for the hospital's cardiac catheterisation lab that requires 110-120 KW at just peak working hours.

The cath lab facility was too crucial for any compromise which now merrily harbours a poly-power redundancy strategy with solar, KSEB power, yet diesel generator working in alternation. The ability is primarily from the solar panel, when the demand goes up, balance shall be removed from the grid. If the grid even fails, the generator back-up for in, assuring no break in current.

The NIMS's hybrid power operation was initiated in 2012, and caught almost a year to complete. It consists of 22, 000 sq ft generally the hospital's rooftop with solar panels building up about 130 KW of electricity. The NIMS initiative is considered to be one of its kind in Asia's health market place, which made the United Nations compel Faizal Khan as a key speaker phone at the UN General Assembly a year ago for their session on "sustainable utilities for all. " A vertical axis-based wind mill shall also obtain its space soon in the hospital's hybrid power system which needs minimum wind speed.

Official basis at the KSEB say that 10 future prospects with 304 KW of involved energy system are in place due to the fact scheme was implemented last year. Triggered active in the scheme include large manufacturing houses, shops, business establishments, and professionals. Nearly 300 fresh applications generally under various stages of merchant which would provide another 12 MW of energy, which is a great solace regarding the power starved state.

N. All right. Pavithran, former Executive Director among NISH, was beaming all up and down while narrating his experience with ones interactive system that he successfully placed around at home. A PhD holder throughout Power Electronics, Dr . Pavithran is considered the first individuals in the State to learn from the system.

He says Germany various European Union (EU) countries generate huge number of megawatts of power and are procedure ahead in tapping solar energy yet wishes every household in the County partake in the new movement towards electricity self-sufficiency in an eco-friendly way.

The standard consumer, who has always been at the fag end of the power distribution community, is now elevated and bestowed applying coveted
