At the MWC2015 Conference has just concluded, the chip maker mediatek reveals an important information: this year will be fully into the high-end market.
At the MWC Conference, mediatek Helio brand launched its first high-end mobile processors, trying to get the "shanzhai" image challenge high dominance. And more recently, also released the industry's first A72, claims to be able to kill Gao Tongxiao long top plate processor 810--MT8173. Judging from these moves, mediatek-market policy changes will not only be in the mobile phone market, will also be spread in the Tablet market.
It is understood that the MT8173 uses a four-core design, as Cortex-A72 for two core processor, two core Cortex-A53 processor and image can be displayed in the 120Hz the refresh rate, output 4K video, but also supports 20 million pixel camera. MT8173 is the industry's first A72 core Tablet chip, from architecture and performance point of view, Gao Tongxiao Dragon 810 are tough. However, since MT8173 is still on 28nm process technology, Qualcomm 810 with 20nm process there is no comparability. But regardless of whether the MT8173 can really kill Qualcomm 810, but also showed mediatek's determination to move into high-end Tablet market.
Throughout the flat panel industry development in recent years, mediatek supplies chips to high end this policy shift, is flow is forced to do so.
Golden age of the Tablet, mediatek waiting in
In 2010, Apple releases the iPad to detonate flat panel industry. With the improvement of Shenzhen support resource, the increasingly sophisticated supply chain, as well as the development of the chip industry, from 2010-2013, the whole flat white card industry ushered in the rapid development of Shenzhen's golden age. In the meantime, for flat chip industry as a whole, growth and market after several years of brutal baptism, domestic flat chip platforms such as via, vimicro, infront micro, June, Telechips, Crystal and other vendors, as well as in the morning, Freescale, Samsung and other foreign manufacturers have exited mainstream market into niche markets.
Until the second half of 2013, only rockchip and volunteers pair of DuPont. It was in the golden age of the Tablet, mediatek started aggressive entry into the Tablet market. Mediatek added, had a huge impact on the Shenzhen market. In less than a year's time, on equal footing with rockchip and the whole log, divided into three kingdoms.
Low price 3G programme, "wash" the Tablet market
Mediatek to enter the Tablet market strategy is to take advantage of low prices 3G flat to pry open the Tablet market. Adopting this strategy, on the one hand is to use its advantages in 3G communication, and small-scale cross-border calls flat trend. Chips make good use of this advantage, beginning in the Tablet market, "making waves".
During this mediatek launched several programmes specifically optimized for the Tablet, which performed best in lbs scenarios are dual-core MT8312, and WiFi is a quad-core MT8127 of the programme, such as MT6572, MT6577, MT6589, programme for the mobile phone market, there are many manufacturers to make tablets.
In 2013, mediatek has just entered the Tablet market, due to its 3G call flat overall retail prices more often than "WiFi Only" flat costs 200 Yuan, while sales have been growing, but not fully into the mainstream. Therefore, mediatek supplies chips for 2014 plates laid down a more radical policy, with 3G calls the function Tablet machine cost but also lower than the "WiFi Only" flat, "wash" the Tablet market momentum!
Rockchip and Intel even longitudinal, mediatek had to shift to high-end
However, mediatek, a good momentum has not lasted. Later, with rockchip and Intel also introduced a longitudinal method, developing against mediatek 3G/4GSOC chip, changing in time, war struck again. Michael Kors Note 4 Case
Cooperation with Intel, rockchip makes up for the lack of base-band technology. Last October, the rockchip and unveiled its first Intel cooperation 3G communications xmm6321, the integration of this chip is very high, would be cheaper than the mediatek 6572 cost and aimed primarily at 7 inches below entry level phone tablet. It is understood that the rockchip its program days and Zhiyuan, Anke, aijian, micro step is signing larger orders.
Rockchip and Intel even vertical, headed off to call the Tablet market, mediatek has naturally caused great pressure.
Faced with this situation, mediatek did more than "fighting" in the low end of the market, and turned to the high-end market, in an attempt to grab more market share in high-end.
Late last year, mediatek has released 64-bit programme MT8752/MT8732 LTE tablet, MT8752 8 A53 CPU is used, the frequency rate of 1.7GHz, integrating the ARM MALI-T760 700MHz graphics processor to support WUXGA screen, 16M level cameras and 1080P/30fps H.265 video 1080P video recording (H.264), multimedia performance has improved substantially.
Mediatek flat chip multimedia performance, has been the subject of criticism. And now, mediatek started to pay attention to multimedia performance improvement, not only MT8752/MT8732, and the release of MT8173, 120Hz Refresh display images, output 4K. Its determination to enter the high-end market.
For a long time, "King of the fortress" with mediatek, has taken a "high value" strategy, which has been unable to get rid of "shanzhai" image, but also gives an illusion only low-end chips. The big MT8173 flat-panel chips, chips trying to prove their strength at the top end of the market place.
The beginning of this year, mediatek has to launch an all-out attack on mobile phones, flat end of the market, this is out of the low end "Cottage" images have to go one way. But to enter the high-end market, not only to face the competition of companies such as Qualcomm, NVIDIA, but also in the minds of consumers establish a high-end brand image, this is mediatek has to face the problem. It can be said that mediatek's high-end of the road will be long and bumpy.

As a camera not only do the camera, holding a bunch of extreme sports videos in the Youtube, further down the hearts of grass when GoPro spelling is not the hardware of the camera itself. Sports culture as the core, and relatively good hardware and accessories, GoPro sports camera is you want to do, "Red Bull", once the GoPro truly "moving camera" yardstick of all latecomers, no matter how cheap the price.
