Want to receive robotic surgery you need to know these data

According to United States food and Drug Administration to retain records show that in the period from 2000 to 2013, Robot Surgeons involved in the operation involving a total of 144 people have been killed. And some form of surgery performed by a robot more risk than other forms of surgery: surgery of the head, neck and thoracic surgery mortality rate, almost 10 times higher than other forms of surgery.

In recent years, robotic surgery there has been a dramatic increase. From 2007 to 2013, only in the United States received more than 1.7 million times the number of robotic surgery, the vast majority are implemented in Gynecology and Urology. Jai Raman and his team at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, said: "However, the surgical robot operation safety and reliability have not been fully studied.    "

So the team are going to through the analysis of accident records saved by the FDA to change this situation, these records include robots in surgery when problems arise in the process of mandatory reporting of accidents, as well as hospitals voluntarily submit reports.

Raman and his team studied more than 10,000 involves surgical procedures report, more than 1500 patients have a significantly negative impact will be described. On average, this means that the rate of adverse events is high.

During this period, a sharp increase in the number of robots perform surgery. Since 2006, the number of deaths and injuries has increased by 30 times, since 2007, but the total number of operations has remained more or less unchanged.

Raman and his team said the types of adverse events are divided into five categories. These categories include: arcing or sparking equipment in the surgery, in the period from 2000 to 2013 a total of 193 cases of burn; Also in other types of accident debris fell into the patient's body, such incidents have taken place more than 100 times, and which resulted in one death; also covers instruments uncontrolled movements, resulting in 52 patients were injured and resulted in two deaths. Lost video feedback system errors of this kind, "contribution" 800 adverse events.

Strange thing is, although the database contains robotic surgery reported 144 deaths, cases are recorded in detail in the case involved only a small fraction. However, in which more than 60% the event was caused by equipment failure, while the other factors of the accident will be operated by doctor errors and risks inherent in the operation.

This is an interesting study, for those patients who underwent robotic surgery provides a brief thought. Of course, these adverse events occurred in surgery and surgery compared with the total number and you will find, most of the surgery is still safe.

However, Raman and his team did not discuss these casualties and that no machine involved in the results of the surgery were compared. If there is no information in this part, it is difficult for robots are in surgical to conclude better or worse. Hermes iPhone 6 cover Hermes iPhone 6 flip case

Nevertheless, improve technology and reduce the failure rate remains a major guarantee of success rate.

Can only download not upload the network will be available for 3 billion people

One of the advantages of the Internet is that you can interact. You can contact friends and family via the Internet, publish your Web site, and comments on the work of others. But we do most things on the Internet or consumer content.

Outernet satellite broadcasting companies want to bring these to the 3 billion people without a network connection. The point is, to be able to efficiently at low cost so that as many people, one-way transfer of Outernet connection.

Outernet co-founder and CEO Syed Karim said: "we want to resolve this as soon as possible the information access problem. "

Outernet made the Lighthouse, a small device that can be used to connect satellite and download various information, such as Wikipedia entries, news, prices and so on, but you cannot upload. Lighthouse is only half the size of the router, users can download or browse the text move the equipment connected to the. Users can also use the Outernet Guide to open source software, and the company itself, build a Lighthouse receiver. Outernet service is free, anyone with the right equipment to receive the Outernet broadcasts.

More and more companies are trying to still have no network connection of 3 billion people with some form of digital information services, such as Internet.org launched Facebook, Google Loon scheme was introduced, as well as satellite Internet company OneWeb and O3b, Outernet now became a member.

In these companies, Outernet is not the most abundant funds, or most well-known companies, but Karim Outernet one step ahead of the other competitors in this regard. Satellite Internet access is very expensive, very few people can continue to use. However, Karim believes that by focusing on broadcasting rather than interactive, Outernet can save a lot of money. While in the long term, people will want to get the full service, but the Outernet can immediately meet the needs of people in the short term.

All uploaded, all receiving

Outernet developed a system so people could submit a collection to the content on the radio, and broadcast the actual collection is through votes. In other words, you can upload your novel, but if no one votes, Lighthouse equipment of others receive this content. Disney iPad Mini Case

However, the greater challenge may be in a global audience-oriented broadcasting to provide content of interest. Users are likely to want to be in the local language to the local news and crop prices, while United States content Uploaders are not always guess what content do end users need.

Karim said that in order to fill these gaps, the Outernet and local radio stations, newspapers and other local media companies, national library, providing more local content. He also said that Outernet plans to let users request content via Whatsapp.

Pay only the right to speak Disney iPad Mini Case

The other hand, in order to be able to provide free services to Outernet enables organizations to pay to improve their content in priority in the queue. For example, the World Bank is negotiating with the Outernet, hopes that this service provides course materials and open data from the World Bank; Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation prior to the RNW also paid to Syria refugee camps newsletter; Outernet or cooperation and the United Nations Children's Fund, through its Twitter message service releases, the United Nations Children's Fund.

These examples appear to be harmless and even useful, but such increased priority contradicts the principle of network neutrality, and will no doubt lead to criticism from Internet freedom fighters. For example, Internet.org has blamed because of its selectivity to provide Internet services, and has promised to expand the scope of services. That is, the Outernet to broadcast or not to broadcast any information not from the Outernet in charge.

However, Karim said, for 3 billion people, so far no network connection, such as the Outernet one-way, non-neutral network is better than nothing. Moreover, the Outernet or do not consider themselves Internet providers. Filter the content was originally Broadcasting Corporation one of the basic functions.

Before the Internet flourished, United States online, network providers such as CompuServe to help millions of people to get involved in the online world. Outernet can also play a similar role, 3 billion people so far no network connections are allowed to taste the sweetness of the Internet, and the resulting demands for full network connection service.
